Our Lexus GX550 Hitch Skid Cover is finished in wrinkled black powder coat and TIG welded with 3/16-inch and 5/8-inch high-strength steel to ensure durability.
The Hitch Skid Cover replaces the OEM plastic hitch cover and mounts to the hitch receiver and trailer safety chain hook-up points, providing protection to the rear hitch and bumper.
Important Fitment & Appearance Information
The hitch skid cover is intentionally designed with approximately 1/4–1/2 inch of clearance between the skid cover and the plastic bumper. The skid mounts to the frame while the bumper mounts to the body, so this clearance is necessary to accommodate chassis flex and relative movement between the two components.
The visible gap is an intentional part of the product's design and should be expected when installed. The skid cover is not designed to sit flush against the plastic bumper.
The Hitch Skid Cover also provides a small buffer in low-speed rear impacts.
All necessary mounting hardware is included.
